Fynn Haupt and Marc Schürrle were able to extend their championship lead in the Endurance Series. The previous Saturday, both drivers secured a third-place finish for Marshmallow Racing in the 10-hour EWC race at Sebring International Raceway.
06/03/2024 Sebring - Strong performance for Team FR13DA SPORT in Sebring. Marc Schürrle and Fynn Haupt entered the third round of the DSRC Endurance Series with momentum. Already during practice, it became evident that it would be a tight battle at the front, and right from the start, the Nürburgring eSports team, which started from second place, managed to take the lead. After a collision in the first corner, the safety car was deployed early, calming the field somewhat. Following the first and only yellow phase of the race, a heated battle for the podium ensued over the distance. But early on, it became apparent that Fynn Haupt could run longer stints than the competition, which would prove to be race-defining later on. Two days before the DSRC race in Sebring, both Marc and Fynn secured a third-place finish for Team Marshmallow-Racing in the PWA.Simracing EWC. The 10-hour race proved to be good preparation and, with the podium behind them, provided a motivational boost. The first pit stop immediately propelled the team to second place, which Fynn Haupt, after driving two stints, had to relinquish early. However, the race remained calm for the majority of the distance. Towards the end, it became apparent that the strategy of longer driving times was paying off. As the final pit stops approached, MSC Kuppenheim and Nürburgring eSports pitted earlier again. Fynn capitalized on this opportunity to gain ground. When he entered the box, Marc Schürrle took over for the third and final stint, and somewhat surprisingly, both, after the pit stops were accounted for, managed to hold onto the lead. Although it became a bit tight temporarily until Marc's tires reached the optimal temperature window, he was still able to hold his ground and deliver a strong performance. Shortly before the end, there was a incident that could have prematurely ended the race. After an incident in the "Hairpin" involving the smaller classes, a TCR car recklessly re-entered the track. Marc couldn't completely avoid it, resulting in contact that fortunately didn't cause major damage. In the end, Marc, along with Fynn Haupt, secured their second consecutive season victory with a narrow lead of 1.170 seconds. By launching a late attack for third place, the PROsport team managed to secure the final spot on the podium, ensuring that the top three teams in the championship also shared the podium
Voices/Reactions to the Race: Marc Schürrle, Driver #13: "We already had a successful experience with the 3rd place at the 10-hour race of the PWA. Winning the third round now, I didn't expect that. Thanks to a good strategy, we were able to take first place after the last pit stop and win the race. Now I hope for a good fourth race to further extend our championship lead. I am also very curious about which track we will be driving on next." Fynn Haupt, Driver #13: "Marc and I have invested a lot of preparation into the race in recent weeks, and it paid off. After a less than ideal qualification, we pulled ourselves together for the race. Especially through our strategy, we were able to make up a lot of time on our competitors, which ultimately led to us jumping into first place. Marc then defended the position strongly and brought home the second season victory over the finish line. I believe we now have a very good position for the upcoming races. We are very excited to see what lies ahead." Tom Keitemeyer, Teammanager: "Another successful race, even though it didn't seem like it at the beginning, Marc and Fynn were able to win the race with their strategy. Before the season, I wouldn't have thought that our team would be in such a good position after 3 out of 5 races. Two victories out of three races, plus a second place at the beginning of the season in Daytona. All expectations have been exceeded, and I have full confidence that Marc and Fynn can maintain this positive trend until the end of the season."
