An early collision with an LMP3 car led to an extended repair stop and an early setback.
Tobias Heckmann, together with Maceo Capietto, finished the race in 7th place in the LMP2 class with the #9 IRL-Sim Team.
Hamburg / Barcelona. Team FR13DA SPORT fielded the driver duo Max Krauss and Jordan Neumann for the opening round of the ESCC season. Due to a last-minute injury to regular driver Mika Hoekstra, the two had to tackle the race as a pair – a true endurance challenge over the full race distance.
Jordan Neumann, the team’s Bronze-rated driver, was responsible for both qualifying and the race start. He delivered a strong performance, placing the Porsche 911 GT3 R in P7. After two competitors received penalties, the team effectively moved up to P5 on the starting grid.
The GT3 race start was clean, but drama struck early in lap 6: an LMP3 car missed its braking point in turn 10 and collided heavily with the FR13DA SPORT Porsche, severely damaging the steering and suspension. After more than 3 minutes of pit repairs, the team rejoined the race at the back of the field, two laps down.
Despite the setback, the team showed great determination. With consistent driving and an adapted strategy, Max Krauss and Jordan Neumann fought their way back to P11 in the highly competitive LMGT3 class. A solid result for a debut race under difficult circumstances – with clear potential for improvement in the coming rounds.
LMP2 – IRL-Sim Team with Heckmann and Capietto
In the LMP2 class, Tobias Heckmann teamed up with Iron Lynx professional driver Maceo Capietto for the #9 IRL-Sim Team entry. The original driver lineup had to be changed at short notice, as Jonas Ried was unable to participate due to technical issues.
Capietto secured 7th place on the grid in qualifying but delivered a strong opening lap, moving the car up to 3rd early on. For over two hours, the duo battled at the front against Impact Simsport and NOP, until another technical issue significantly impacted the race: a steering problem during a pit stop led to more than two minutes of downtime, dropping the team back to P17.
With a solid and mistake-free second half of the race, they managed to claw their way back up the field. In the end, they finished 11th overall and 7th in the LMP2 Pro class, securing 8 valuable championship points. The pace was there – now they just need a bit more luck.
